The cement industry is a major sinner in terms of CO2, however, the Danish company FLS has managed to create a new CO2 reducing technology which is a major step in the green transition of the cement industry. With the new technology, local clay can be used in the cement production instead of imported clinkers and thereby reduce CO2 emission by 20 per cent. CBI Ghana’s new cement factory makes use of FLS’s new technology. The company is the second of its kind in the world and the largest so far. The factory is located outside of Ghana’s capital Accra.
